Distance Correction

Caldera uses different Distance Correction based on weapon type as follows:

While ranged attacks can work anywhere from 0 yalms to their max range, players will receive a penalty to both ranged accuracy and ranged attack for using ranged shots from non-ideal distance. The penalty, when applied, scales relatively with distance.
Because of this relative scaling, guns will see less penalty per yalm than long bows as they approach max distance. This is because guns have 5-15% penalty for being too far, spread across 16 yalms. Long bows, on the other hand, have a 1-13% penalty, but only 12 yalms to hit cap.
Inversely guns will see a significantly fast approach to capping their too close penalty, due to the 5-25% penalty must be allocated over 5.5y.

While ideal distance does not affect WS, almost all ranged weapon skills have a maximum range of 16 yalms (Some are closer, none are farther). Attempts to use weapons skills beyond this range will yield the player a "Too Far" message and wipe TP.

Weapon Ideal Distance Too Close Penalty Too Far Penalty Max Range
Throwing 1y - 3.5y Throwing is distance > 3.5 results in 100 - distance difference / 100 20 yalms
Gun 8.5y - 10.5y 5-25% 5-15% 23 yalms
Shortbow 7y - 10y 5.5-35% 1-13% 23 yalms
Crossbow 8.5y - 12.5y 6-35% 5-14% 23 yalms
Longbow 10.5y - 13.5y 5.5-35% 1-13% 25 yalms
